Performance and Results

We all know that performance and results are two different things. We all agree that performance produce results (prestasi memberikan hasil). Good performance will give good results and of course, bad performance will give bad results. We can’t run away from this because Allah SWT has promised that we will be paid for what we worked for. And Allah SWT will not give something out of nothing. And Allah SWT do not work on coincidences or just for the sake of it. Anyway, if performance produces results then naturally performance is more important than results (although both are important in its own way). But everywhere I go people are more worried about their results. Then, I thought something is wrong here. If performance is more important than results, shouldn’t we worry more about the performance than the results? Hmmm… something to ponder. Now my mind starts to wonder and my heart starts to wander.

Then I started to think that there would always be confusion between performance and results. And because of this, there will always be confusion between KPIs (with the purpose to measure performance) and KRA (with the purpose to measure results). Therefore due to this confusion, it is easier to treat results such as profits, sales growth and customer acceptance as KPIs. But I have to stress that these are results and must be considered as the Key Results Area or KRA. What we need to emphasise on is to determine the factors or indicators that will influence greatly the achievement of these Key Result Area. KPIs must be extracted from the work processes that will drive the achievement of the results. In view of this dilemma, Gem-Asia Seminars designed a 2-day training workshop program in DETERMINING AND MEASURING PROCESS KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR (KPI) FOR ORGANISATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS. This course is for companies that have implemented KPI as a review and enhancement opportunity. For companies that have not implemented KPI, this is an excellent opportunity to start understanding what KPI is all about. As a matter of fact, when the right KPIs are identified, then we will also start to measure other critical subjective elements such as communication, leadership, teamwork, priority setting and technical mastery.
